The political industrial action in Pirkanmaa announced by Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL has a large impact on public transport in the Tampere region on Thursday the 14th of December, 2023.

Following the announcement of the extension of the strike by AKT, Nysse traffic will be interrupted for buses, trams and trains from 02 am on Thursday until 01:59 am on Friday the 15th of December. Services departing before 02 am on Thursday will still run to their final stops. On Friday, services will start at 03:45 am.

Lines to be operated

According to information from the transport operators, lines 37, 39 and 86 (TKL), 43U (Luopioisten Linja) and 95 KUTSU (Valkeakosken Liikenne) will operate normally despite the strike. It is possible that some services on other lines will also be operated by drivers and supervisors who have come to work.

The so-called U-lines (43U, 56U, 57U, 60U, 68U, 69U, 87U, 95U and 96U) are not operated by Nysse. For information on the operation of these lines, please contact the operators directly.

Follow the Journey planner for up-to-date traffic

Customers should be prepared for major disruptions to public transport services and consider car sharing and working from home when possible.

Cancelled bus and tram services can be checked in the Nysse journey planner, where they will be posted by 04 pm on Wednesday the 13th of December. After that date, the number of services to be operated will be added to the journey planner as operators see the number of drivers coming to work. The journey planner will therefore continue to be updated even on the day of the strike. Passengers are advised to check their own departure information just before their journey.

Please note: The U-lines are not updated in the journey planner. For information on the operation of these lines, please contact to operators directly.

On the Nysse's Disruptions page, not all cancelled services are shown due to the large number of cancelled services. On the X-message service Nysseinfo, cancelled services are exceptionally not shown at all during a strike day.

Any refund policy for season tickets will be announced on the Nysse website after the situation has ended.

How to find your stop's strike timetable information in the journey planner

You can check the journey planner for the traffic situation during the strike period from Wednesday at 04 pm onwards. Please check your own departure also on the day of the strike, as the situation may still change unexpectedly.

The best way to see the situation on your line is to use the stop search:

  1. Select a stop on the map (on mobile, the map opens, for example, via "the buses and nearby stops on map" button).
  2. Select the correct day from the timetable box. If you are looking at the situation on Wednesday, select "tomorrow".
  3. In red you will see the cancelled departures crossed out. Note: As a rule, all departures are cancelled in the event of a strike. Operators will return departures to the journey planner according to the driver information they receive.

Please note that U-lines are not Nysse traffic and we cannot remove them from the service. They will therefore appear incorrectly in the journey planner on the day of the strike.

Possible refunds

Any refund policy for season tickets will be announced on the Nysse website after the situation has ended.
