Wednesday, 03 December 2025 at 18:15
At its meeting held on 3 December, 2025, the Tampere region Public Transportation Committee approved the public transportation services for the 2026 summer season as proposed. The last day of service for the summer season is Tuesday, 4 August 2026. The 2026–2027 winter season will begin in the middle of the week to coincide with the start of the school year, which will improve cost-effectiveness.
Route changes
The construction site at the Tampere passenger rail yard will close the Itsenäisyydenkatu tunnel to vehicle traffic for several years. Bus routes 6, 29, 42, and 90 will be rerouted:
- Routes 6, 42, and 90 will now run from Itsenäisyydenkatu to Yliopistonkatu and from there on to the city centre via Kalevantie and Vuolteenkatu.
- Route 29 will run via Tammelan puistokatu and Lapintie to Rongankatu.
In Ylöjärvi, Route 82 will begin operating via the new Pallotie junction, providing faster connections from Metsäkylä and Elovaino to Tampere. Routes 84 and 85 will operate to Takamaa and the Mutala-Kuru area only on weekdays.
In Northern Tampere, public transportation for the 2026 summer season will be based on the service provided by Route 90. Nysse collected feedback from customers on two different route options: a direct connection to the Tampere city centre approximately every 70 minutes and a connection with a transfer to the Tays area approximately every 60 minutes. Opinions were practically evenly split between the options. In Kämmenniemi and Terälahti, the majority of respondents favoured the direct connection to the city centre. The feedback survey was open from November 10–16 November 2025. On 3 December 2025, the Committee decided that Route 90 would run directly to Tampere city centre.
Scheduling
Service frequency will be increased on routes 33 and 35 on weekdays during the summer. In addition, route 35 will begin operating on Saturdays. Service on route 50 will continue on weekends at 20-minute intervals. Routes 52A and 52B will not operate on weekends. Service frequency will decrease on route 18: service will run every 15 minutes on summer weekdays.
The following routes will be suspended for the summer break: 39, 44, 46, 47, 48 (the Sahalahti–Pohja section), 49, 56, 57, 59, 72, 76, 77, 78, 86, 91, 92, and 93. These routes operate only during the winter season, as they are primarily designed to serve the needs of elementary and secondary schools.
