Route 16 will change to a long-term detour on Monday, 26 January 2026, due to renovation work on Irjalankatu. The detour will run via Huhmarinkatu, and several stops in the Irjala area will be closed.

The detour route is the same as the one used during the renovations in Irjala from March to December 2025. The detour route will be valid at least until the autumn.

Detour route

The route will operate normally between Kauppi Campus and Ruotula up to Ali-Huikkaantie. The detour will then follow this route (stops in parentheses):

• From Ruotula to Takahuhti: Ali-Huikkaantie - Lautasenkatu (Kuusenmäenrinne 9948) - Kuusenmäenrinne (Huhmarinrinne 9946) - Huhmarinkatu (Huhmarinkatu 9944) - Kourutaltankatu (Takahuhti 5055).
• From Takahuhti to Ruotula: Kourutaltankatu (Takahuhti 5055) - Huhmarinkatu (Huhmarinkatu 9943) - Kuusenmäenrinne (Huhmarinne 9945) - Lautasenkatu (Kuusenmäenrinne 5137) - Ali-Huikkaantie.

The following stops will be closed:

• Kuusimäenkatu: Kuusimäenkatu 5100, Kolarinkatu 5097/5104, Irjalanaukio
• Irjalankatu: Irjalanaukio 5106, Irjalan koulu 5108/5109, Linnahaankatu 5110/5111 ja Kirjavaisenkatu 5120
