Route 16 will return to its route via Irjala on Monday 26 October 2026. The route has been operating on diversion since the beginning of the year due to street works in the Irjala and Ruotula areas.

Stops including Irjalanaukio and Irjalan koulu will once again be served. However, route 16 cannot yet return to its normal route, as work on Ali-Huikkaantie is expected to continue until late November or early December. Until then, the route will operate via Jaakonmäenkatu instead of Ali-Huikkaantie.

The diversion route will remain in place until the work on Ali-Huikkaantie is completed.

New diversion route

The section of route via Huhmarinkatu will be removed. As a result, the stops Huhmarinkatu 9943/9944 and Huhmarinrinne 9945/9946 will no longer be served.

The route will operate via Irjalankatu as follows:

• From Takahuhti to Kauppi Campus:
  Kourutaltankatu - Kirjavaisenkatu - Irjalankatu - Kuusimäenrinne - Jaakonmäenkatu - Teiskontie - Lääkärintie
• From Kauppi Campus to Takahuhti:
  Lääkärintie - Teiskontie - Jaakonmäenkatu - Kuusimäenrinne - Irjalankatu - Kirjavaisenkatu - Kourutaltankatu

The following stops on Ali-Huikkaantie will remain closed: Ylihuikkaantie 5153/5154, Laalahdenkatu 5151/5152 and Lautasenkatu 5155/5156. In addition, Kuusimäenrinne 5137 on Lautasenkatu will remain closed until further notice.
