Tram service disruptions in the city centre from evening until morning in May
Tuesday, 28 April 2026 at 09:00
Tram services in Tampere city centre will be suspended daily on 3–7 May 2026. The service disruption will begin in the evenings at around 20:00, with services resuming in the morning at around 06:00. The disruptions are caused by overhead line modification works, during which the southern underpass on Itsenäisyydenkatu will be closed to tram traffic.
The disruption applies on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 20:00 and 06:00. During this time, trams will not operate through the city centre and there will be changes to tram routes:
- Line 1 operates between Lentävänniemi and Keskustori.
The section Kaupin kampus – Keskustori is suspended. - Line 3 operates between Hervanta and Tulli.
The section Tulli – Sorin aukio is suspended.
Replacement services are available on bus lines 6, 7 and 18R. The construction work does not affect bus routes.
Updated timetables and travel options during the disruption can be found in the Nysse Journey Planner by searching for the desired date and time.

Replacement Bus Services
Kaupin kampus – City Centre
During the disruption, feeder line 18 operates to the city centre on a temporary route 18R Atala – Kaupin kampus – Keskustori. At Kaupin kampus, the route runs via Teiskontie stops, not via the Lääkärintie feeder stop.
Feeder lines 15, 16 and 17 operate normally to Kaupin kampus C. Transfers to city-bound buses 6 and 18R take place at Teiskontie stop Kaupin kampus D. To facilitate transfers, feeder lines also stop at this location exceptionally. Feeder line 41 does not operate during the disruption.
City Centre – Kaupin kampus
Kaupin kampus can be reached from the city centre by buses 6 and 18R.
- Bus 6 departs from Sorin aukio E and also serves Railway Station F (Rautatienkatu).
- Bus 18R departs from Keskustori M and also serves Railway Station D (Hämeenkatu).
Transfers to feeder lines 15, 16 and 17 are most convenient at the shared Teiskontie stop Hoitokoti 5040.
Feeder line timetables are not coordinated with bus services, so passengers are advised to plan their journey in advance using the Nysse Journey Planner. Waiting times are, however, short.
Tulli – Sorin aukio
The temporary terminus of Tram Line 3 at Tulli is within a short walking distance of the city centre, so travel between Tulli and the centre is also possible on foot. However, due to construction works in the rail yard area, the walking route may be difficult in places.
Bus 7 serves Sorin aukio and offers easy transfers at the Hakametsä stops. Bus 6 also operates between the Tulli area and Sorin aukio, with transfers available at Sorsapuisto and Sammon aukio stops.
