Nysse Mobiili application accessibility statement
This accessibility statement applies to Nysse Mobiili application. The statement is based on a comprehensive audit conducted by the Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland (application version 2.4.0), performed on October 23–25, 2024.
Accessibility Status
The Waltti Mobile application currently does not meet all accessibility requirements outlined in Section 7 of the Digital Services Act. Below are the known deficiencies and their relation to the WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
Non-accessible content
1. General issues
- The application only functions in vertical orientation and cannot be rotated to horizontal orientation. This deviates from WCAG 2.1 criterion 1.3.4 but ensures that the ticket QR code remains centered within the reading area of the vehicle reader. In horizontal orientation, the code might shift out of the reading area and fail to be read.
- The default language of the application cannot be programmatically defined (WCAG 2.1, criterion 3.1.1).
2. User interface elements
- Some icons lack descriptive text alternatives (e.g., arrow buttons, logos, and cookie settings icons) (WCAG 2.1, criterion 1.1.1).
- Roles of all user interface components cannot be programmatically defined for assistive technologies (WCAG 2.1, criterion 4.1.2).
3. Visual and programmatic presentation
- Information conveyed through the presentation (e.g., selected tabs and button statuses) cannot be programmatically determined (WCAG 2.1, criterion 1.3.1).
- Headings and lists are not appropriately programmatically marked (WCAG 2.1, criterion 1.3.1).
- The correct reading order cannot be programmatically determined in the "Information" section (WCAG 2.1, criterion 1.3.2).
4. Visible and functional focus
- The keyboard focus indicator is not always visible (WCAG 2.1, criterion 2.4.7).
- Content cannot be scrolled using the keyboard (WCAG 2.1, criterion 2.1.1).
- The focus order does not preserve meaning and functionality (WCAG 2.1, criterion 2.4.3).
5. Contrast and text enlargement
- Some user interface elements have insufficient contrast (WCAG 2.1, criteria 1.4.3 and 1.4.11).
- Enlarging text fragments without assistive technology is not possible (WCAG 2.1, criterion 1.4.4).
6. Status messages
- Status changes (e.g., selected zones or button statuses) are not communicated to assistive technologies (WCAG 2.1, criterion 4.1.3).
Actions to Improve Accessibility
The accessibility of the application is continuously being improved, with the aim of addressing the deficiencies listed above in future updates.
