The winter season begins on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, and ends on Sunday, 6 June 2027.

The season is scheduled to coincide with school holidays. The academic year for vocational schools begins on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, and classes at primary and high schools start on Thursday, 6 August 2026.

Decisions by the Tampere region Public Transportation Committee regarding winter season service (in Finnish):

Service changes

The schedules for the entire fleet are adjusted to meet demand. Based on an analysis of passenger numbers, demand is highest around midday and in the afternoon on both weekdays and weekends. There are fewer passengers in the early morning, late evening and at night, so services will be increased during the busiest times and reduced during quieter periods.

Public transport services will be reduced during the Christmas holiday period from 21 December 2026 to 8 January 2027 for cost-saving reasons. Weekday operating hours will remain unchanged, but there will be fewer departures than usual. This is related to financial balancing measures decided already in 2025.

Other changes:

  • Additional commuter and school bus lines are resuming service after the summer break.
  • Responsibility for operating bus line 96 in Orivesi will be transferred from Nysse to the City of Orivesi.
  • Service on Airport line 103 will end as part of the 2026 budget approved by the Tampere City Council.
  • School line 109 will start operating between Kaukajärvi and Hervanta. It is intended for pupils in grades 7–9 from Kaukajärvi who are relocating to temporary facilities at Konetalo in Hervanta. The line is open to all passengers with a valid Nysse ticket.

Route changes

The northern underpass on Itsenäisyydenkatu will remain closed. Bus lines 6, 42 and 90 will continue to operate via Yliopistonkatu, and bus line 29 via Tammela and Armonkallio.

Due to the diversion, line 29 will be significantly longer, increasing travel time and costs. Therefore, it will be split into routes:

  • 29A Ojala – Kyttälä – Lamminpää (current route)
  • 29B Ojala – Kyttälä – Pyynikintori

This change ensures sufficient service on the busiest sections of the route.

The starting and terminal stop of line 30 in Pirkkala will move from Kyösti to Turri. This brings public transport closer to the new Soukonlahti residential area, which will have homes for over 1,000 residents. The current terminal at Kyösti is over a kilometre away, so the new location will better serve everyday travel.

In Nokia and North Tampere, new network structures will be introduced.

Northern Tampere route network renewal

Pohjois-Tampereen linjasto on uudistettu erityisesti talviliukkaiden aiheuttamien ongelmien vuoksi.

The bus routes in northern Tampere have been revised, particularly in response to problems caused by slippery winter conditions.

  • Route 90Terälahti – Sorin aukio
  • Feeder route 15 Sorila – Kaupin kampus
  • School route 91 Aitoniemi – Kämmenniemi – Mäntylä
  • School route 92 Viitapohja – Kämmenniemi
  • School routes 93 Kämmenniemi – Teisko kko – Terälahti.

A few morning trips on route 90 will run from downtown through Linnainmaa and Aitolahdentie to Terälahti. This provides students from Tasanne and Olkahinen with a direct connection to Kämmenniemi Middle School.

Nokia route network renewal

Bus routes in Nokia have been revised to ensure that public transportation better meets the needs of the city’s growing population and changing mobility needs.
